
A beginner combination of dance & pre-acro camp for young children. Music, coordination and gross motor skills are the foundations laid in this program. Designed to develop a child’s natural movements and encourage creativity and in the very young dancer. Students must be 18 months by September.

PRE-DANCE COMBO
(ages 2 to 3-1/2)
An introduction to dance. This beginner dance camp provides training in rhythm, creative dance, disciplined group activity, and basic elementary ballet and tap movement. In this fun atmosphere, coordination, balance, and self-esteem are developed.

KINDER-DANCE COMBO
(ages 4 to 5-1/2)

BALLET
Ballet is the foundation of all dancing. It provides the grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in other areas of dance and gymnastics.
Hands-On Time: 45 minutes – 1 hour weekly

POINTE
(Instructor Approval)
Students may go on pointe only with permission of the ballet instructor. The art of classical ballet technique where the ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet.

LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY
This form of dance encompasses balance, control, flexibility, and interpretation of music. The dancer will explore movement, space, rhythm and creativity with emphasizes on momentum, shapes and patterns. Inspired by nature, music, art, and human emotions the student will ultimately learn to express a personalized vision, often through experimentation and collaboration for the development of new, more individualized approaches to the moving body and choreographic possibilities.
Hands-On Time: 45 minutes weekly
Dress Code: Any leotard, tight fitting top, tights, black capris, or shorts

BROADWAY TAP
Younger ages will enjoy the rhythms and movements of Broadway tap. In addition to interpreting the mood of the music, students also develop coordination of mind and body and a more perceptive sense of rhythm, timing, and phrasing. This camp is ideal for the beginning – intermediate tap student.
Hands-On Time: 45 minutes weekly
Dress Code: Any clothes that the dancer can move freely in, tights are optional

RHYTHM TAP
A form of tap dance deeply rooted in jazz syncopation and musicality, rhythm tap uses syncopation and off-beats, instead of strict adherence to following the music. Emphasis is placed on developing proper technique, learning challenging combinations, and developing a sense of presentation and style. Rhythm tap can accompany music or can be performed acapella.

CLOGGING
This genre is a high energy fast paced folk dance in which the dancer’s footwear is used musically by striking the heel, the toe, or both against a floor or each other to create audible percussive rhythms, usually to the downbeat with the heel keeping the rhythm. Clogging is the official North Carolina state dance and was the social dance in the Appalachian Mountains as early as the 18th century.

JETT
(Jumps, Extensions, & Turns Technique: Company members)
A camp designed to focus strictly on the techniques of jumps, extensions, and turns. Students will learn important fundamentals to take their techniques to a whole new level helping many dance genres!
Hands-On Time: 45 minutes weekly
Dress Code: Any leotard, tight fitting top, – tights with shorts (optional), black capris or pants – all attire should be form fitting so instructor can see the alignment of the body
Shoes: Foot Paws, Half Ballet Shoes, Jazz Shoes or Barefoot
TYCP
(The Young Choreographer’s Project: Company members)
This camp is designed to give the student a broad introduction to dance composition. Instructor will introduce and help develop tools for the dance maker’s “toolbox.” Each student will use their unique tools to find their own choreographic voice and style. Students will learn to generate and manipulate movement through exercises and improvisation, and will expand those skills into shaping dances. Areas to be explored include elements of movement, musical structures, narrative, partnering, and site specific work. The young Choreographer will choreograph their own piece and will be showcased in performances.

BOYS ONLY!
(grouped by age)
This camp will involve numerous dance and tumble techniques focusing only on boys. It is important to give them a time of comfort where they can be with other boys their age in a class. The necessary bonding experiences will help them overcome any shyness towards dancing/tumbling in general.
Hands-On Time: 45 minutes weekly
Dress Code: Any loose-fitting attire such as sweatpants, tanks/shirts, or other dance-wear
Shoes: Barefoot
ACRO-TUMBLE
Time is divided between warm-up, exercise, perfection of tumbling skills, flexibility, and strength building. Also known as power tumbling this acrobatic sporting discipline combines some of the skills of artistic gymnastics on the floor which are integrated with basic dance movement.
Hands-On Time: 45 minutes weekly
Dress Code: Bike-tard or any leotard or tight fitting top, tights or shorts, hair out of face, no jewelry
